Meet Owen
Meet Owen Brennan.
Eight years in the Marine Corps. Two tours. Came home to South Scranton, used the GI Bill, and opened a welding shop that hires guys his buddies used to share a shift with before the plant closed. He's running because nobody in Washington is fighting for the 12th.
Section 01
Eight years. Two deployments.
Owen enlisted in the Marine Corps three weeks after high-school graduation. Two combat deployments. Discharged honorably as a sergeant, with two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.
He doesn't talk about it much. The guys he served with do.
Section 02
Brennan Welding & Fabrication.
GI Bill at the community college. Two years apprenticing under a Steamfitters journeyman. Opened the shop in 2014. Eleven on payroll today — apprentices, journeymen, and one guy who needed a shot.
"If you can hold a torch and show up on time, we can teach you the rest."
Section 03
Because NEPA used to make things.
Coal. Steel. Textiles. Now the plants are gone and the incumbent voted for every trade deal that got us here.
"Three families on my block have buried their kids. That's not a statistic — that's the guy I welded with last Tuesday. I'm done watching from the shop floor."
